Thinking on the first part of Giro 2013

Carbohydrates what? I've read on Corsera that Wiggo and Hesjedal had a diet poor of carbohydrates, they're too skinny and they've lost the power to climb Giro's mountains...and to resist into the bounch in case of miserable weather. Mediterranean diet during the first week would have been a plus? Riders from Sicily are winning...
Wizzards off? Yes maybe. I've seen strategy and old practice come back into the bounch. A safety-car-pace on Sunday's stage has been really common in the Giro back in the 70's to 90's. Rider neutralization, as it seems no DSs knew anything about it. Strategy is something at the opposite corner of Control, let's think on it.
We have culture, you NOT? Martinello addressing Sky's DS saying "In our culture..." (nearly like this).  Sky's DS speaks a perfect Italian. What's culture in cycling? I think culture is knowing who's Coppi, Anquetil, Bugno etc... and remembering some episodes of the past (ok if u remember Roche vs Argentin you have it). I think people speaking in English can have Cultura Ciclistica too, it's not a matter of blocks and no need to put walls. By the way...Cav has a lot of culture. BUT I understand that it can be a matter of Style and we do prefer attacks to trains (mountain trains I mean). Ah...No good train nowadays during sprint stages, it's messy and there's a man able to win any sprint so it's silly to set up a train to be defeated in five, too.
Brakes troubles?NO: gear troubles. What happened to chains at Giro? Where is the great effort of manufacturers into delivering products always perfect to put them on the market with scaring price tags? That's a battle lost, I stopped to count chains dropped during this first Giro. Downhill and fast descents created troubles but materials created safety problems as well.
Cold and wet? Yes it has been cold and wet, I've seen the hell on all the riders' face in Bardonecchia. They're heroes we should stop judging them without knowing what's behind a poor season or a crisis: Visconti should teach us that it is not easy to deal with pain in your soul. Respect first.
Logistics made Impossible Possible,YES! Great effort by RCS, they're winning any challenge, setting the target at high levels, seen Michele Acquarone at Jaffreau Telecabine to manage and control riders' descent, quiet and smiling as usual. His staff has drawn a great Giro and from home it's amazing. Maybe my colleagues and the riders are suffering from the amount of kms to be done transfering themselves, yes I understand that but crisis is tough, you should go where they pay for that Carnaval. Hosting a stage at Pantani Memorial was something impossible, it was impossible getting Ischia by Ferry too...
Territorial Marketing? YES, MAYBE! Do you know what's the meaning of Territorial Marketing? Basically is promoting your land throu an event (in our case), you can have LIVE coverage if you invest in Giro and people at home can see how beautiful is your land. I discovered parts of Italy I didnt know thanx to Giro. I hope Administrations will understand that Tourism can save Italy and Giro can help them to appear sexy for tourists. Strategy is needed, you must project it in advance and few professionals are able to do it nowadays. Wizzards should be banned in this field too, sponsor-chatching is not a funny game anymore.

I love this GIRO!
